Attendance Office

If your student is ill or has a valid excuse for the absence, please contact Libby Robinson at [email protected] the morning of the absence.  If no message is received within 24 hours of the absence, the attendance must be recorded as unexcused.

There's a very strong correlation between good attendance and success in school. 

 
If a student is ill, a call should be made from the parent/guardian to the Attendance Office (506-3410) the morning the student is missing school. If no call is made, the student should bring a note from the parent the morning he/she returns with a valid reason for the absence. (Acceptable excuses as set forth by the Oregon State Department of Education listed below).
  1. Illness of the student; 
  2. Illness of an immediate family member when the student’s presence at home is necessary; 
  3. Emergency situations that require the student’s absence;
  4. Field trips and school-approved activities;
  5. Medical or dental appointments. Confirmation of appointments may be required;
  6. Other reasons deemed appropriate by the school administrator when satisfactory arrangements have been made in advance of the absence.

A student who has been absent for any reason is encouraged to make up any assignments given by the teacher.  Parents/guardians should contact the office to request homework assignments for students who will be absent for two or more days.

If your student must leave school during the day, a written note or call from the parent to the attendance office is required.  Please indicate the date and time of release.


Truancy

A student is truant if they are either not attending in-person classes. For online students this means they are not attending the required virtual sessions or not making daily progress.  

A student who attends, communicates and/or progresses less than the expected amount may be considered truant.

 

“Ten Day Drop”  

Per state law, ten (10) consecutive school days, even for medical reasons, requires that  we drop the student from school and report them to the authorities. Let us know if there  is a medical reason and we can help you.
