English Language Learners
Title III is a federally funded program that supports English Learners (ELs) in developing English language skills so they can succeed in school and beyond. The program is part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and is designed to help students attain English proficiency and meet the same academic standards as their peers.
Supporting English Learners in Our District
At North Wasco County School District, we are committed to providing high-quality instruction and support services to our English Learner students. Our goals are to:
-
Help students develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English
-
Support academic achievement across all content areas
-
Promote cultural understanding and family engagement
-
Ensure students have equitable access to educational opportunities
Our EL students may receive a range of support, including specialized instruction, bilingual resources, and language development programs, depending on their individual needs.
Parent & Family Involvement
We believe that families play a key role in student success. Title III encourages schools to:
-
Provide information in languages parents understand
-
Involve families in planning and supporting language programs
-
Offer opportunities for input, feedback, and participation
