This scholarship is for students who live in Oregon or Illinois.

The Ford Scholars Program is an undergraduate scholarship available to promising high school seniors or recent high school graduates who work hard, have significant financial need, and face barriers to higher education. Up to 130 renewable scholarships are awarded each year to students from Oregon and Siskiyou County, California.

Scholarships for Trade School

Many trade school grants and scholarships focus on a specific industry. There are a few broad scholarships that cover any trade education type.

We are pleased to offer two $1500 scholarships for current high school seniors heading into a trade or CTE program post-high school. This includes apprenticeship programs, 2 or 4 year CTE programs, certification programs and trade schools. Students can use the funds for items or services needed to be successful in their program such as child care, safety equipment, tools, computers, and transportation in addition to tuition expenses. All scholarships are paid directly to the recipient. Application due by April 10, 2026

This is an incredibly valuable opportunity to skip the points-based traditional ranking process and gain Direct Entry into our apprenticeship program. We will give away one full-ride scholarship per county (see list below). It is renewable all four years of their time with us, pending students maintain a “C” average in their night classes.
A little about us…
  • Area 1 Inside Electrical JATC is a four-year apprenticeship program to become a General Journeyman electrician
  • We have been educating apprentices in WA and OR since 1978
  • We are one of the largest non-union electrical apprenticeship programs in the area
  • Apprentices work 40 hours/week with one of our Training Agents (electrical contractors) to gain 8,000 hours of on-the-job-training
  • Evening classes are one night/week from 5pm-9pm at one of our campuses (Portland, OR / Vancouver, WA)
  • Our Oregon counties: Clackamas, Multnomah, Hood River, Wasco, Washington, Yamhill
All high school seniors wanting to apply for the Area 1 Inside Electrical JATC (four-year full ride) scholarship will need to drop off all parts of their completed application in person at our Portland campus by Thursday, May 4th at 6:00pm (6915 NE 42nd Ave, Portland, OR 97218. We are open Mon-Thur, closed Fridays.)

Some points to consider: Students must have a minimum overall 2.0 GPA, One full year of Algebra (with a “C” or better), 18 years old at time of graduation
