The Wahtonka Community School is located at the Wahtonka Campus, 3601 West 10th Street in The Dalles, with classes starting July 9th, 2018. The school will operate year round - July through June - Monday through Thursday from 11:00 am to 5:30 pm. For the 2018-19 school year, enrollment is limited to 60 students. The Wahtonka Community School will have a closed campus and no late starts.
Student learning focuses on hands-on, project based skills. Students will work with members of our community creating and participating in service projects where students will learn their academic skills by helping others. Much of the student's time will be spent helping operate the school farm, running the school's farmer's market, conducting outdoor environmental studies, and interacting with local community business leaders and community members outside of school. Students will be expected to attend school every day, work hard and interact with our community in a positive manner.WCS Wait List / Charter Lottery***Wait list slots will be filled until the charter lottery takes place on May 2, 2019. At that point in time, the wait list will no longer be valid. Entry in the lottery does not guarantee admittance to WCS. After available spaces are filled students will be added to our new wait list by their auto generated lottery number. There are three ways to apply:ORPick up an application in person at 3601 W. 10th Street, The Dalles, ORAll applications are due no later than midnight on May 2, 2019 to be eligible for the lottery. Applications recieved after that date will be added to the wait list in the order received.
