The Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) provides retirement benefits to State of Oregon employees, including those in public education. The basic requirement for membership is that an employee work for a qualified employer and/or employers and work a minimum of 600 hours in a given calendar year.
PERS Membership Tiers
- PERS OPSRP – Employees hired on or after 8/29/2003
- PERS Tier 2 – Employees hired between 1/1/1996-8/28/2003
- PERS Tier 1 – Employees hired before 1/1/1996
