Attendance Office
If your student is ill or has a valid excuse for the absence, please contact our attendance secretary at 541-506-3380 ext. 4004 or send an email to: [email protected] the morning of the absence. If no call and/or message is received within 24 hours of the absence, the attendance must be recorded as unexcused.
OREGON MANDATORY 10-DAY DROP: PER THE OREGON STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, IF A STUDENT IS ABSENT (EXCUSED OR UNEXCUSED) FOR TEN (10) CONSECUTIVE DAYS FROM SCHOOL, THEY WILL BE DROPPED FROM ENROLLMENT AT THEIR SCHOOL. A PARENT/GUARDIAN WILL BE REQUIRED TO MEET WITH SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION IN ORDER FOR THEIR STUDENT TO BE RE-ENROLLED AFTER BEING DROPPED.
Acceptable excuses as set forth by the Oregon State Department of Education are:
- Illness - student is ill and unable to attend
- Illness of a family member - family needs student's help at home, etc.
- Family emergency
- School absence - field trips, prior permission to miss one class for another, group or counseling sessions, athletics, etc.
- Religious holiday
- Mental health related needs
- Pre-arranged - This is ANYTHING pre-arranged where the student will be missing the entire school day. For example, medical and dental appointments, vacations, etc.
A student who has been absent for any reason is encouraged to make up any assignments given by the teacher and must contact their teacher for those assignments.
If your student must leave school during the day, a written note or call from the parent to the attendance office is required. Please indicate the reason, date and time of release.
If a student becomes ill at school, they will be sent to the Nurses office. A determination of illness will be made and a call from the nurse to parent/guardian will initiate the release of the student.
Tardy Information
Students that are more than 10 minutes late to class, must report to the attendance office to be given a tardy slip. Students with 3 or more unexcused tardies per trimester will be referred to Administration. Interventions for excessive tardies will follow the Disciplinary Guidelines as listed in the Student Handbook.
