The Health & Safe Schools (HASS) Plans were created by the Oregon Legislature in 2017. The plans require school districts, charter schools, and ESDs to communicate with their communities and stakeholders how the districts are addressing the following environmental hazards:
The HASS Plans do not require districts to develop new policies or procedures where the hazard is already covered by other state and federal regulations. For those environmental hazards where the district already has plans or policies in place, the HASS Plan only requires the district to link and make available those plans or policies.
