District to Conduct Long-Range Facility Plan
In order to ensure that facilities can meet the future needs of all students, staff, and the community, the North Wasco County School District is launching a Long-Range Facility Planning Process. The process will use the Oregon Department of Education Technical Assistance Program (TAP) format which includes a recommended timeline.
As a precursor to the process the District selected Richard Higgins of BLRB Architects, who is certified by the Oregon Department of Education to conduct an initial Facilities Assessment using the prescribed tools and procedures. The tools and process are outlined under the Oregon Department of Education Technical Assistance Program.
On Thursday, March 14th, North Wasco received notice that we have been awarded a $20,000 Technical Assistance Program (TAP) grant and a $25,000 Long-Range Facilities Planning grant from the Oregon Department of Education. These funds will used to help off-set the costs of this process.
The District will consult with Richard Higgins and a group of community volunteers to determine the status of all facilities and grounds as well as explore safety and security needs. The Oregon Department of Education Technical Assistance Program recommends a timeline for this work of 24-30 months. In order to meet state requirements, the plan must include:

He is certified by the Oregon Department of Education to conduct the Long Range Facilities Assessment using the tools and procedures outlined by the Oregon Department of Education Technical Assistance Program.
