Board Members

Each board member works with the other members of the board and in partnership with the superintendent, who carries out the board’s vision and direction. Decision-making authority is vested in the school board as a whole – individual proposals are adopted only when a majority of the board approves them.

1	Carol Roderick Director 541-296-6517	Appointed until 6/30/2013 Zone Description Zone Map (Zone 1 is the green area)	Director Roderick is a long standing member of our community who, with her husband Dean, owns and operates a local electrical business. Director Roderick is a very active volunteer in our community. She not only spends countless hours in her role as school board member, but she is also a passionate advocate for local military Veterans and donates much of her time volunteering in support of the National Guard. One of Director Roderick's top priorities on the school board is engaging more community members as volunteers within the schools or as student mentors.
2	John Fredrick Director 541-397-0088	Appointment until June 30, 2013 Zone Description Zone Map (Zone 2 is the beige area)	Congratulations to Mr. John Fredrick on being appointed to the Zone 2 School Board position! Director Fredrick brings previous experience to the NWCSD 21 Board and is eager to fullfil this commitment. Director Fredrick is a local business owner and enjoys volunteering with TDW Athletics program.
3	Vacant Zone	7/1/11 - 6/30/15 Zone Description Zone Map	This position will be an appointment until the regularly scheduled term expiration date of June 30, 2015.
4	Dave Jones Director 541-296-6712	7/1/09 - 6/30/13 Zone Map Zone Description	Director Jones is married to Donna, has five daughters and 14 grandchildren in which he enjoys spending as much time with as possible. He retired from education in 1991 after serving as a Social Studies teacher, Vice Principal at The Dalles Junior High, Vice Principal at The Dalles High School and then finishing his career as Principal of Wahtonka High School. Director Jones was one of the original members on the newly formed NWCSD 21 Board of Directors and has held the position of Chairman. He loves golf, enjoys spending time in the schools and is very involved in helping make the schools a safe and positive environment for all. Director Jones and his wife spend one day a week volunteering in the Portland Oregon Temple.
5	Brian Stahl Director 541-298-8383	7/1/09 - 6/30/13 Zone Map Zone Description	On the Board since 2006, Brian Stahl served previously on The Dalles School District 12 Board for many years. Director Stahl moved to The Dalles in 1978, after being born and raised in Connecticut. He is the Water Division Manager for the Department of Environmental Services for the City of Gresham and sits on many boards. Director Stahl and his wife Linda have two sons, both enjoy hiking, camping, canoeing, fishing and traveling.
6	Robert Bissonette Chairman	7/1/11 - 6/30/15 Zone Map Zone Description	Recently re-elected, Director Bissonette is a proud alumnus of The Dalles High Class of 1974. His two sons are grown with the youngest attending OSU. Moving back to The Dalles nearly 10 years ago he has helped with restarting the local ARC Chapter and was on the United Way Board. Currently, Director Bissonette is working for the Hood River SD as an Alternative Education Special Educator. He enjoys a busy summer working as a fishing and white water guide on the John Day River. While at home he enjoys reading, crafts, gardening and working on home improvement projects. Director Bissonette values extra-curricular activities, vocational and art education.
7	Ernie Blatz Vice Chairman	7/1/09 - 6/30/13 Zone Map Zone Description	Director Blatz began his service on the NWCSD 21 Board of Directors in 2005. He is married to Kris and enjoys spending time with his four children. He owns and operates his own business in The Dalles, which he founded in 1990 after moving to this area from the mid west. Director Blatz was instrumental in helping form the many Chess Club's within the schools. He enjoys playing chess, being with his family and animals and working with community citizens through his business.
